Introduction

MEAL is at the heart of every organization’s survival. Organizations that survive are those that adapt to changes. MEAL is key in enabling organizations to adapt to changing internal and external environments/Contexts. MEAL enables organizations to authoritatively state if they are achieving the changes they wanted to bring about.

When MEAL is done as it should, it enables organizations to build stakeholders support for their projects, track progress of their efforts, learn and improve on future programming.

This training is ideal for;

Learning Objectives;

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the key concepts and principles of MEAL
  2. Understand the relevance of MEAL in the project cycle
  3. Understand the designing and working of key conceptual frameworks: i.e. the Log Frame, Theory of Change and the Results Based Framework
  4. Understanding project indicators
  5. Design Monitoring & Evaluation Plans sand Frameworks for their projects
  6. Understand the learning component in MEAL
  7. Learn all about data and data management

Training Content

Key Concepts & Principles in MEAL: This session covers the key concepts that inform MEAL. They include Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning and the Results Chain. It will also cover the relevance of MEAL in the project cycle

Understanding conceptual frameworks: This session will take participants through unpacking of the Log-frame, the Theory of Change and the Results Framework. This session will use practicals of real time project case studies for each of the conceptual framework.

Understanding Project Indicators: The session will take participants through what indicators are and their development protocols. There will be a practical session of developing project indicators against anticipated results.

Understanding the learning component in MEAL: This session will build the participants knowledge and skills of how project learning is extracted from monitoring and evaluation activities and how it can be used to inform change.

Designing M & E Framework, Plan
In this session, participants will be taken through Monitoring and Evaluation Framework, the Monitoring and Evaluation Plan, The Evaluation Plan and Evaluation Schedules. For each element, here will be practical sessions using real time case studies of projects.

M & E Data: This session will cover the different sources of qualitative & Quantitative data, participatory data collection methods, data quality and data ethics.

Training Charges
Option 1: US$ 450 (covers online tuition, online resource materials and an e-certificate of participation)
Option 2: US $ 800 (covers tuition, resource materials, conference package and a certificate of participation)
Option 3: $1300 (covers tuition, Certificate of participation and full board accommodation at Convent International Hotel from the evening of 23rd November evening to breakfast on 29th morning.

Airport pickup and drop off in Nairobi is offered at no charge for option 2 and 3
